The popularity of whiskey has grown and grown over the last ten years, in almost every country. In actual fact, Japan claim that it is one of their fasting growing drinks, second only to French wine. The only downside is that the price tag can be quite large as whisky refinement is not easy and storage costs push the price up. It’s been known for people to pay tens of thousands for some rare bottles. Here is a list of 5 of the best whiskies you can buy, without breaking the bank. So put your wine glasses away, and dig out that tumbler.

Along with some subtle honey undertones, this whisky boasts some great complex flavours that allow it to often be considered in the same league as some much more expensive drinks.Lucky enough for whisky lovers, this bottle isn’t very well known, so the price tag hasn’t shot up yet.

2.)    Glen Garioch 10 ($20). It may not have the age that some of the other whiskies in this list have, but it sure makes up for it in smoothness. No one would pick this out as the cheapy in a blind taste test

3.)    Old Pulteney 12 ($20-$30). Found in bottles that look like crystal vases, this malt is truly value for money. Often thought of as a sea side drink, due to its salty and sweet flavor, making it a favorite of sailors and sun worshipers alike.
